NHL All-Star Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets was in Novato, Calif., on Thursday for a motion-capture filming session for 2K Sports' forthcoming hockey video game, NHL 2K9.

During the session, Nash had dozens of reflective markers placed on him. The markers are designed to reflect light from infrared cameras that were mounted all over the studio where the session took place. Here, Nash is skating on a plastic surface designed to mimic the look and feel of ice, and he's taking a shot at a nearby goal.

The idea is that the motion-capture cameras can record his exact movements and then programmers can incorporate them into the game.
