Legos on the move

They're just small, brightly colored pieces of plastic, right? Wrong. Legos are enduringly popular toy bricks and more that for a half-century have fueled the imaginations of everyone from preschoolers to craft-minded adults. The sign on this wall at a Lego store in New Jersey sums it up in just four words: What will you make?

The people who make the Legos in the first place, however, are facing an uncomfortable change. Lego Group, based in Billund, Denmark, will be relocating most of its manufacturing jobs to factories in Mexico and the Czech Republic between now and 2009, according to a story in The New York Times. Design and marketing employees will remain in Billund.
