At 6 p.m. sharp on June 29, 2007, a single-file line of "iWaiters" began to queue into the New York Apple store. Apple used an innovative activation scheme to get customers quickly in and out of its stores by allowing iPhone buyers to activate their devices at home: a process that was not without some hurdles.
