Also on the software side is Loopt, a friend-finding service now available on some of Verizon's phones. Loopt uses GPS to track down friends and display their location on a tiny map on a mobile phone.
The company has been offering the service on some Sprint and Boost Mobile phones for more than a year. The service on Sprint costs $2.99 a month. Now some Verizon customers will be able to use the service, which will be available on 20 of Verizon's data-enabled phones and will cost $3.99 a month.
