The ground floor of the new Apple store is devoted entirely to Mac laptops and desktops. Johnson explained that the reason for this is threefold: first, it's a nod to Apple's origins as a computer manufacturer (before Bono and the iPhone came into the mix); second, it's part of the company's overall strategy to get more people to switch to Macs from PCs; and third, putting the computers on the ground floor is designed to encourage people to drop in, surf the Web, and socialize.
