This weekend in Austin, Texas, dozens of "makers" will gather at the Travis County Fairgrounds for the third Maker Faire. The event, which was held in San Mateo, Calif., in May 2006 and May 2007, is a celebration of do-it-yourself culture, a "science fair with larger people," as one participant puts it. During the event, makers get a chance to showcase their creations, selling some or sometimes just letting the public play with them. Here, the San Francisco group Cyclecide prepares to set up its "Cyclofuge." The Cyclecide features bicycle rides in a carnival style.
