Hitachi's fashion-forward slim LCD prototype. The panel measures only 19 millimeters wide. TVs relying on these panels are expected to appear in stores in 2009. Although a top manufacturer, Hitachi generally doesn't have the brand cache of Samsung or Sony in the U.S. The company, though, is going to try to upgrade its image and emphasize industrial design more. Expect a big push at CES.
JVC and Sharp also showed off slim LCDs. Sony, meanwhile, showed off its even slimmer, but far smaller, OLED TV.
