Pet-eye fix

Hewlett-Packard's summer's lineup of nine compact cameras, announced Thursday, range in price from $80 to $300 and include features that let users make fixes right in the camera.

In addition to being Windows- and Mac OS-compatible, the cameras are Windows Vista-ready, which means consumers should have no problem importing photos to their Vista computers.

The R937 and R847 also both come with HP's "pet-eye fix," which was first introduced on the HP R837 in March. This feature changes little Hudson from a devil-eyed monster into a wide-eye pup in about two steps. If you've ever tried to use the human red-eye fix on a dog's glowing orbs, you know why this is useful. Red-eye fix software doesn't usually know how to deal with fur, which leads to some mottled-looking pets.
