Intel hopes the problems with UMPCs will fade away in 2008 with "Menlow," the code-name for a MID (mobile Internet device) platform that contains a special energy-saving chip built on Intel's 45-nanometer manufacturing technology. UMPC's power consumption will significantly drop with that chip, Chandrasekher said after his keynote speech.
