Subsistence herders live remotely on Mongolia's plains, often setting up their tents (ger) several miles from the nearest neighbor. Family members must do their share of work to keep their families and herds healthy. This boy, shown in North Gobi in July 2006, pushed aside his older brothers for a rare moment alone with "his" 6-month-old foal.
