The Motorola Razr has far and away been the most popular phone among U.S. consumers over the past two years, with nearly 12 million Razrs sold in 2006, according to data collected by The NPD Group.

"Clearly, it's been a phenomenon. I don't think Motorola imagined it at the time," said analyst Neil Strother. "The proof of that is in the copycats."
