As part as an initiative to market itself to digital-photography enthusiasts, Microsoft hosted a Pro Photo Summit on June 28. At the event, the software maker awarded prizes in its inaugural Future Pro Photographer Contest. One overall winner and three runners-up in different categories were selected.

The contest was judged by Patrick Donehue, vice president of photographer services for Corbis; Christopher Robinson, editor of Digital Photo Pro magazine; and George Lepp, photographer and founder of the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging.

Here is the grand prizewinner, "Slalom," by Alin Popescu of Slobozia, Romania.

Information on Microsoft's digital-photography initiatives can be found at Microsoft's Pro Photo Web site.
