If your parents don't think you call home enough, you could always appease them by starting a blog to keep them posted on what's up. One of the easiest blogging platforms out there is Six Apart's Vox. The age demographic skews more into the 20s and 30s, but that can be a good thing--there's no way you could be mistaken for an underage emo-teen on Vox. In addition, it's easy. You can privacy-protect your entries, insert photos and videos easily, and even compile indexes of your favorite books, music and movies that you've blogged about.

And it goes without saying that such simplicity and ease of use are more than welcome in a hectic college lifestyle.
