Jimmy McChristy, 17, shows off video animations he has created with Adobe After Effects for a four-minute takeoff on the movie The Matrix. McChristy, a Santa Fe, N.M., high school senior, is one of thousands of kids attending technology-focused camps organized by iD Tech Camps, a Campbell, Calif., company whose summer programs are offered on college campuses across the country. McChristy is among about 2,000 kids aged 7 to 17 who are attending the iD Tech program at Stanford University, which draws the largest number of campers.

McChristy is collaborating with seven other students in his digital video-editing class to create a film that they hope to post to YouTube next week.
