Among the celebrities at Last HOPE was John Draper, aka Captain Crunch, a pioneer of the phone phreaker movement. Now working as chief technology officer for En2go, a provider of high-definition TV on the desktop, he had an interesting take on the state of affairs in computer security.
"The hackers are winning," he said. "With viruses and malware it's so difficult to track down the creator because of the botnets. There are two to three levels of separation...A large cyberattack is going to happen; it's a matter of when."
