Kim's wife and two daughters were rescued Monday afternoon on a remote logging road west of Merlin, Ore., and have been reunited with family. The search continued Tuesday for missing CNET editor James Kim, who left the family's car on foot Saturday morning to seek help.
He is believed to be within 5 miles of the location where the family was rescued (shown on map as orange shaded area), near the Rogue River in the area of Bear Camp Viewpoint off Bear Camp Road.
Kim and his family were expected to arrive at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge in Gold Beach on the evening of November 25. They never checked in.
The family had last been seen Saturday in Roseburg, where they ate dinner at a Denny's restaurant.
A cell phone tower in Glendale picked up a signal from one of the Kims' mobile phones at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, according to a report in The Oregonian.
That new piece of information narrowed search and rescue workers' area of focus to roads in the Bear Camp area, which would have connected the Kims to NF-23, a remote logging road that connects Interstate 5 with Gold Beach.
