Sibelius, a maker of music notation software used all over the world by musicians and composers, has released a new music creation and education program for children ages 9 to 11.

Called Groovy City, the $69 software immerses kids in an urban-themed 3D environment, where they can choose a character and from a range of musical instruments, sounds and melodies. Kids drag and drop graphics like a house (for a techno beat) or a robot (for a bass line) to compose a piece of music. Their character walks across the city to play the lines of the composition. By clicking a button, kids can also see the musical work in the form of notes.
