Photos: Ian Fleming and how he forged a Bond

Some might forget that it was Ian Fleming who wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, published in 1964. He wrote the children's book for his son. In 1968, it was adapted for the big screen, with Dick Van Dyke playing Caractacus Potts. (Roald Dahl co-wrote the screenplay.) The inspiration for the flying car (as shown in this Ian Fleming sketch) came from a series of racing cars built by Count Zborowski in the 1920s at Higham Park. The manuscript for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is on display at the Imperial War Museum.
