The new Newseum, which opened in Washington, D.C., last weekend, has filled one of the last available spaces on Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the Capitol building. The $450 million museum traces the development of news over time, and how technological advances--from line art in newspapers to TV helicopters to the Internet--have changed how it's delivered and presented. Admission is $20.
One of the Newseum's most prominent features is its front facade, which includes the full text of the First
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
