Photos: The technology behind 3D movies

Real D's disposable glasses are relatively inexpensive--about 50 cents apiece--and can be branded with promotional material for the movie being shown. The lenses let through a particular type of light, which has been circularly polarized, but one lens is right-circularly polarized and the other left-circularly polarized.
