First stop on the virtual tour is the Flavian Amphitheater or Colosseum, home of gladiator fights, chariot races and war re-enactments--some of the bloodiest "sporting" events ever. This image shows the gladiator training area, or Ludus Magnus, outside the Colosseum, and the underground entrance to the Colosseum.
The departments involved in the project included the UCLA Cultural Virtual Reality Laboratory, the UCLA Experiential Technologies Center, the Reverse Engineering Lab at the Politecnico de Milano, and the Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities at the University of Virginia.
