And ironically, many of those who actually did wait in line weren't there for Vista or Office. CompUSA had a corresponding promotion with notable deals on tech equipment like Bluetooth headsets and monitors; when the doors opened at 10 p.m., the 60-odd queuers scrambled to get their hands on the discounted gadgets but then quickly checked out and left.
