Photo: Sun's latest blade server

The Sun Blade 8000 P (right) is smaller than the Sun Blade 8000 (left), which Sun introduced in September. The new 8000 P chassis, which costs $7,495, was announced November 14 and will be available in February. It is geared for high-performance technical computing, whereas the earlier 8000 is for mainstream business tasks. Both accommodate blade servers with up to four Opteron processors from Advanced Micro Devices.
