Images: The sci-fi effect on high tech

One of the most famous of the modern era of science fiction, William Gibson's 1984 novel Neuromancer was the birth of the concept of cyberpunk and of cyberspace. The book also touched on virtual reality, artificial intelligence, genetic engineering and ubiquitous technology.
