Intel researchers provided an update on its rootkit detection technology, which is still pretty far away from commercialization but is an interesting way of tackling the problems posed by rootkits that evade conventional security software. The new development is that Intel's software checks the links between the various parts of the operating system kernel as well as the individual parts of the kernel itself for rootkit-like behavior.
