Images: Massive mathematics

This graphic illustrates a mathematical structure similar to, but much smaller than, E8, considered one of the most complex symmetrical structures in mathematics. A team of 18 mathematicians from universities around the world embarked on a massive computing project to complete the calculations, which required 60GB of data.
