United Business Media buys Black Hat

United Business Media has acquired Black Hat for $10 million as part of a move to bolster its presence in IT security. Black Hat holds IT security conferences, security consulting, training and briefings to companies and governments worldwide. The organization was founded in 1997 and operates in the United States, Europe and Asia.

As part of its announcement Thursday, UBM also purchased the Japan Jewellery Fair for $2.7 million. The fair will be folded into UBM's fashion business operations, which includes jewelry fairs in Hong Kong and China.
