Roxio sells GoBack

Software maker Roxio announced Thursday that it sold its GoBack brand to Symantec for about $13 million in cash. GoBack is a system recovery application that automatically keeps track of all information on a PC's hard drive and can revert the hard drive to a previous state if something goes wrong. Microsoft has incorporated similar functions in recent versions of the Windows operating system.

Roxio CEO Chris Gorog said the sale will help Roxio hone its focus on digital media products, including the company's recent purchase of file-swapping pioneer Napster.
