Altec Lansing on Tuesday released its 5100 multimedia speaker and subwoofer system for PC gamers and multimedia entertainment enthusiasts. The tri-mode system supports 6- and 4-channel sound cards and features five speakers and a subwoofer.
The 5100 connects to video game consoles, portable CD players, MP3 players and PCs. The 100-watt speaker system links up using either a standard 3.5mm headphone jack or RCA left and right outputs. Altec Lansing lists the speakers for around $180, but expects them to sell for as low as $160.
