Attendance drops at Macworld

IDG World Expo announced Tuesday that more than 58,000 people attended last week's Macworld Expo in New York. That's off from the record crowd of more than 64,000 that packed the Javitz Center for last year's show, but organizers praised the turnout amid a pronounced slump for the technology industry.

"As New York City's largest technology event, Macworld is a bright light in an otherwise dim industry," IDG World Expo CEO Charlie Greco said in a statement. Meanwhile, Apple Computer said Monday that more than 50,000 people watched CEO Steve Jobs' Macworld keynote on their computers via a QuickTime broadcast
