Symbol extends Palm OS license

Handheld maker Palm said Monday that Symbol Technologies, which makes bar code scanners and related devices, has extended its license of the Palm operating system through April 2005. Holtsville, N.Y.-based Symbol licensed the Palm OS in 1997. Among those using Symbol's Palm-based devices are Sears, the U.S. Postal Service, Office Depot, Korea's postal service and Duke University Medical Center.
