Short Take: Hitachi to enter handheld computer market

Hitachi, Japan's largest electronics maker, will start selling personal digital assistants and offering online content services by the beginning of 2002, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported. Hitachi will attempt to catch up with market dominator Palm, the paper said. Hitachi's product will have the ability to download information from the Internet by connecting with mobile phones.
