Short Take: Navy recruits Palm devices

The U.S Navy is using devices from Palm on the USS McFaul, a Norfolk, Virginia-based guided missile destroyer, the company announced. The personal digital assistants (PDAs) will be outfitted with extra security software and will be used to replace paper and clipboards and to improve efficiency onboard the ship, the Navy said. The USS McFaul will receive 115 Palm devices; this is in addition to 2,000 handheld computers already being used in the Atlantic fleet.
