Amazon adds 'Search Suggestions'

Amazon.com introduced a new feature on Friday, called "Search Suggestions," that enables users to contribute keywords for items sold on the site.

Search results will now display not only products with a direct word match but also those that fellow Amazon users have hinted may be relevant, accompanied by an explanation of the connection. For example, searching for "Paul McCartney" will now bring up results pertaining to the Beatles as well as to the singer himself. The online retail giant is marketing Search Suggestions not only as a way for customers to help each other out, but also as a tool for businesses that sell their products on Amazon to gain more exposure by identifying keywords that could guide shoppers to their merchandise.

According to Amazon, thousands of Search Suggestions keywords have already been added to the site.
