Juniper wins Alltel deal

Internet router-maker Juniper Networks has struck a deal to provide equipment to Alltel, a network operator with customers in 24 states in the United States. Under terms of the deal, Alltel has selected a "wide range" of Juniper's Internet routers for the company's network, according to a statement. Terms were not immediately available.

Alltel said in a statement it would immediately work to add the Juniper equipment to its network. The Juniper technology is expected to aid in the company's efforts to improve Internet connections and add to its DSL (digital subscriber line) network, Alltel said. Alltel generally focuses on secondary markets for its telecommunications services and boasts 10 million customers, according to the company.
