EMC's security division RSA announced plans Thursday to buy data loss prevention company Tablus, in a move to bolster its intelligent information management offerings. Tablus, a privately held San Mateo, Calif., company, develops data discovery and classification, and monitoring and data loss prevention technologies.

Tablus' products will be folded into EMC's Infoscape intelligent information management offerings. The deal is designed to create a platform to enable customers to apply various policies to how their data will be handled internally. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
