Red Herring to resurrect Web site

Technology news magazine Red Herring is expected to relaunch online Thursday, after a near six-month gap in publishing and a change of ownership, according to sources close to the company. Red Herring covered the Silicon Valley venture capital and technology community for 10 years before it succumbed to an advertising downturn. RCH Media, publisher of Red Herring, issued its last magazine in March, after an unsuccessful bid to find a buyer, and sold rights to its name to Dasar, a French technology media company.

In recent months, Dasar has been hiring editorial staff to work in its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters. Red Herring's original co-founder, Tony Perkins, is not involved with the venture. Jim Daly, former editor of Business 2.0, is expected to be the Web site's editor in chief. A Dasar representative would not comment on the relaunch.
