Short Take: Spam king settles with AOL

Spamster Sanford Wallace of Cyber Promotions has reached a settlement with America Online in a Pennsylvania court. Under the agreement, Wallace can now send unsolicited email to subscribers who turn off AOL's PreferredMail tool for filtering junk email. The deal settles a case filed by Cyber Promotions in March that accused AOL of encouraging Internet access providers to cancel service to Cyber Promotions. AOL won a separate ruling in November to block the company's mass emailings.
