Musicians sue MP3.com

A group of musicians including Tom Waits, Randy Newman and members of the band Heart has sued MP3.com for $40 million on charges of copyright infringement.

The recording artists are citing the same service that drew lawsuits from all the major labels and ultimately put the online company on the hook for more than $100 million in damages and licensing fees. MP3.com has settled with most of the record labels that sued it over the My.MP3.com online music-storage service. The artists' suit was filed Monday in Los Angeles federal court.
