Hill asks if ICANN can

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and its controversial selection process for top-level domain names will be the subject of two congressional hearings. The first is Feb. 8 in the House Commerce Committee, the second Feb. 14 in the Senate Commerce Communications Subcommittee. The latter committee also will be having a hearing on e-mail spam Feb. 27, Chairman Conrad Burns, R-Mont., said Wednesday. Burns said he intends to work with Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., Commerce Committee Chairman John McCain, R-Ariz., and others this Congress to pass legislation on spam, online privacy, better allocation of wireless airwaves, and growth of broadband services to rural areas.
