Short Take: Listen.com, rival square off for Scour assets

Tuesday's deadline for entering the auction for Scour's file-swapping technology passed with only music directory Listen.com and file-swapping software company CenterSpan Communications in the ring. The apparent lack of any larger players bodes well for Listen, which is backed by undisclosed investments from major record label companies. Each company wants to use Scour's technology to create a legal music-swapping service that has the backing of copyright holders. A final auction for the assets of the bankrupt company will be held Dec. 12.
