Short Take: Desktop.com completes first wave of financing

Desktop.com, a start-up that plans to bring traditional desktop applications to the Net, said it has gained $29 million in its first round of financing from investment firms Accel Partners, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and Sequoia Capital. Desktop.com will use the funds to market and launch its service, which will be available this fall, the company said.
