Short Take: Net users number 102 million, firm says

Net monitoring firm Matrix Information and Directory Services estimated the number of Internet users at 102 million as of January 1998, up from 57 million users in January 1997. The firm estimated the number of email users at 120 million. It predicts there will be 447 million people online by January 2000, and 827 million by January 2001.
