Short Take: California Virtual University gets boost from tech giants

Sun Microsystems, Microsoft, Pacific Bell, KPMG Consulting, and International Thomson Publishing said this week that they are kicking in $375,000 to help create the California Virtual University, a Net site that will house all the online courses offered within the state's college and university system. Gov. Pete Wilson also promised to include $6 million for the plan in next year's state budget.
