Labor Dept. sets up benefits site

The Department of Labor has set up a trial version of a Web site that is designed to help U.S. citizens determine their eligibility for government benefits. The GovBenefits site features 52 benefits programs ranging from Social Security to Pell grants. U.S. citizens can determine whether they qualify for benefits programs by answering questions about their finances and living status.

The site, which is scheduled to launch Monday, has been set up as part of the Office of Management and Budget's E-Government Strategy plan, a list of 24 initiatives designed to make government services more streamlined and accessible to the public.
