Online TurboTax to accept returns

With the tax season fast approaching, taxpayers can prepare and file this year's tax returns online through Intuit's popular TurboTax site beginning Saturday, a company representative said. This year's Web version of TurboTax includes a premium feature that provides additional tax advice concerning the new tax laws and planning information.

Last year, taxpayers prepared some 2.5 million returns via the online version of TurboTax; this year Intuit expects taxpayers to prepare about 3.5 million returns through its online software. Taxpayers can use TurboTax's Web site to file an extension with the Internal Revenue Service and will be able to prepare and file a return through the site until Oct. 15.
