eBay to introduce seller feature

eBay is readying a new feature designed to make listing items on the online auction site easier, the company said Wednesday. The pre-filled item information feature, which eBay plans to switch on next month, gives sellers the option of entering a Universal Product Code or International Standard Book Number in the listing form, triggering the listing to fill itself automatically in with general information such as photos and product descriptions. The feature is optional, and the seller can select which bits of information they want to use in their listing, eBay said.

The feature, which has been available to sellers at eBay subsidiary Half.com, is part of eBay's work to fold Half.com into eBay and close Half.com as a separate site next year, the company said.
