Short Take: eBay to test instant purchase tool

eBay plans to test a new "buy it now" feature during the holiday season. The feature, which will be free and optional for sellers, will allow buyers to purchase items for a set price, without going through the bidding process. eBay rivals Yahoo and Amazon.com already offer a similar feature through their auction sites. eBay's "buy it now" feature will debut next month and will only be available on eBay's main site.
