Borland to ship trial C#Builder with IBM software

Borland Software on Thursday said it will ship trial versions of its C#Builder software development tool with IBM's DB2 Universal Database software. The tool, launched earlier this year, creates software that runs on Microsoft's .Net Framework, the underlying plumbing of the company's .Net software architecture. Borland is hoping to attract developers looking for an alternative to Microsoft's tools for building .Net applications that can run on a mix of operating systems and programming languages in addition to Windows.

IBM will begin shipping the tool along with DB2 beginning this fall. As part of Thursday's announcement, Borland said it has also begun shipping a copy of IBM's DB2 Universal Developer's Edition with C#Builder.
