Cray launches services business

Cray has launched a High-Performance Computing Services business unit and has promoted Andreas Kerl to be its director, the Seattle-based supercomputer specialist said Wednesday. Services customers include Toyota Motor Marketing Europe, Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano, Instituto Nacional de Meteorologica in Spain, the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, Applied Technical Systems and Boeing, Cray said.

"We expect HPC Services to become an increasingly important part of the company," Cray Chairman and Chief Executive Jim Rottsolk said in a statement. Cray said Kerl will continue his current work as director of operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
